Finger Lakes Finns Meeting - Sun. Sept. 19th
The Finger Lakes Finns will meet Sunday, September 19, at 1:00 pm, at the Newfield Fire Hall, 77 Main St., Newfield, for a dish to pass meal, business meeting and program by Mackenzie Bristow and Ron Saunders on their Rauma, Finland, artist residency. Toivo will play, and the Silent Auction of Finnish items will conclude. Proceeds benefit the Scholarship Fund. All are welcome.
Mathews Family Tradition CD Release Party
VFW Post 8139 and the Ladies Auxiliary present a CD Release Party and an evening of Bluegrass Music with the Mathews Family Tradition and special guest band. YOUTH AND COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF SPENCER-VAN ETTEN SPENCER PICNIC 2010 BASKET RAFFLE WINNERS
The Youth and Community Foundation of Spencer-Van Etten would like to thank all the people that stopped at our Basket Raffle Booth to purchase raffle tickets during Spencer Picnic 2010. Your support made this year’s raffle the BEST on record! This will definitely allow us to continue offering mini-grants and help SIRS support all its programs for our senior community members.
The Van Etten Community United Methodist Church (VECUMC) has been the center of activity over the years. The Clothing Closet has helped many in need find clothes for their families. Area seniors have enjoyed meals and recreation there. Bone-builders have been meeting there for exercise classes for the last few years and our "Last Saturday of the Month" Breakfasts became an event that most looked forward to not only for the food but for the fellowship. A vacation bible school was held for many years and the residents of Spencer and Van Etten have been to a wedding or a funeral service there. All of this shows just how much a part of the community this church has been.

The new website, SpencerPicnic.com is now live! It was developed and donated by s-go Consulting to commemorate the 100th Spencer Picnic this summer. The site has photos and videos and will include a growing section of historical photos and videos all the way to to picnic. The site includes Chad Windnagle's 7 minute mini-documentary on Spencer Picnic, Spencer Picnic "100 Years in Review".
Future ideas include a live streaming webcam through all of Picnic week and a place for anyone to upload photos each day.

Spring Rabies Clinic
There will be a Spring Rabies Clinic held at the Spencer Fire Station on Tuesday May 5th from 6-7PM. Vaccine will not be administered unles pets are under control with dogs on a leash and cats either leashed or boxed and both accompanied by a responsible adult. You must also show proof of previous vaccination; Lack of this will result in this shot being considered a first time vaccination for the animal and effective for a year period. All other vaccinations are effective for a three year period.
